Women’s History Month, a Little March Motivation

Email to a friendPrint this article

March is Women’s History Month. At Misstropolis this is rather redundant, since we celebrate women every month, and think everyone else should too. Still, the national focus can be great motivation to get you into the spirit of supporting women who need some extra help.

Are you involved with an organization that helps women in need? Share your stories in Comments. You never know where your next volunteer of the month will find you.

Are you looking for ways to give back, to become part of making someone’s life a little easier, a little warmer? See if any of these local charities sound like a fit for you:

This is a wonderful! Thank you for helping to introduce us to services and charities that reach out to help women who need it most. A couple of best known organizations, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Boys & Girls Clubs also provide invaluable services to women and girls. Both organizations provide mentoring and opportunities for experiences and relationships that may otherwise be unavailable to them. The specific offerings at B&GC;vary by club, but provide a safe place to play and learn, with school tutoring, sports, arts & music, field trips, and often access to educational scholarships. I worked for the B&GC;for years, in Boston and Denver, and saw that many kids grow up in the clubs, which were often more safe and dependable than their neighborhoods or homes. I recommend checking out your local clubs, and keeping them on your radar when you are deciding to which organizations you want to contribute. --Marty

This is a great idea Marty, maybe you can help Misstropolis connect with B&GC;so we can continue to spread the word about their important work.
