Janet Echelman's site-specific installations transform places people bypass to those they seek out and remember. Like cosmic games of cat’s cradle, they reveal the strength in softness—the strength of allowing, of flow, of cooperation and patience. At a time when faith is faltering, I believe Echelman’s public artworks offer the comforting suggestion of a power greater than ourselves.
